I am designing some applique for my log cabin basket quilt. There is a lot of blank space and I think it needs some applique. I fell in love with the applique in a book called Elegant Quilts, Country Charm by Leonie Bateman and Dierdre Bond-Abel. So I used several flowers and leaves from the book to begin adding applique. I have one side pinned down. Need to make more leaves and vine. Then I will do a vine heading up the left border. I have plans for the right bottom corner. Since I don't have a pattern to trace to place the applique, it is a bit challenging for me. I also don't want to permantly add the washout marker so I am planning on getting everything down that is under and removing the lines before I iron on the flowers and leaves. I really respect the work designers do when preparing patterns. Here is what I have done so far:
I have also gotten two more blocks made on my civil war quilt. Today, I go to the dentist to get some oral surgery done. I'm hoping it will fix a problem I have been having. From my past experiences, I know I will be sleeping the rest of the day and still be able to go to sleep at night. Have a great day. Check out what others are doing at Patchwork Times.

Design Wall Monday
This is what I have done on the Barbara Brackman Civil War Quilt so far. I am waaaay behind. I have printed off all of the blocks in case it goes down. I plan to buy the book when it comes out later this year even though I have the patterns. I love the history on the blocks and just the way she writes. I've planned to set it with a medallion center. I didn't get too much done this weekend. I have one block cut to sew and and I got one done. I spent part of the weekend drawing a motorcyle image to quilt on the current quilt. I could not find any quilting patterns with motorcyles. If you know of one, please let me know.
This week is revival at church, so not much will be going on. I have tried to plan ahead and made a few meals for quick fixes when I get home from work. The winner of my quilt guilds raffle quilt came by to pick it up. We made over $1000 on this year's quilt. That is more than double what we usually make. I think we are getting better at designing and putting them together.
It is a medallion style quilt. It is a king size, so part of it is folded over. What is folded over is a duplicate of what you can see on the bottom. We really enjoyed making this quilt.
Head on over to Judy's Patchwork Times to see what every one else is working on.

Design Wall Monday
I did not get the borders on the Star Flower wall hanging so it is still up on the wall.
I do feel real good about the quilts that got quilted this weekend. I also made the baby bib last night for my co-workers first grandchild. I am giving her the bib made from recycled blue jeans and a sock frog doll. Her daughter is doing the nursery in lime green and black and I thought this frog was too cute!
I have them setting on my longarm table and the pattern is Velvet Queen if you are wondering. I really like how it quilts up. I will figure out how to do a tutorial and get a pattern upload this week so that you can make a baby bib if you wish. Until then, have a Sew Wonderful Monday!

Design Wall/Table Monday
I have worked when I could on my UFO project, I Believe. I have to finish the I Believe block (near the center) and one filler that goes below the angel block. I will push to get it done this week and hopefully will at least get the I Believe block finished.
Of course, I have another project going. What else is a quilter suppose to do? (Finish what is started.) I am putting together a program on buttons for my guild next month and have been wanting to do a quilt to show off some of my buttons. I found one that I like and started it. It is Star Flowers from Kim Schaefer. It was on my sewing table.
I also have another project on the design wall under the I Belive, it is Santa Stick. It is on hold for a little while. Sew many projects.
